What it asks of your phone

every permission, and why.

A safety app needs real access to your phone. Here is each thing it asks for, what it's used for, and when.

microphone

Only while Guardian Mode is switched on, and you'll always see a notification while it is. The sound is analysed on the phone, moment by moment, and never recorded, saved or uploaded.

location

To put a Google Maps link to where you are in an SOS or "Walk with me" message. Read only when one of those is running, never tracked in the background otherwise.

sms

To text your emergency contacts directly from your SIM, so an alert works even without mobile data. Sakhi never reads your messages.

notifications

For your reminders, the SOS countdown with its "I'm safe" button, and the fake call.

no contacts access

You pick emergency contacts one at a time with Android's own picker. Sakhi never sees your address book.

internet, barely

Only to download the optional offline keyword pack for Guardian (English or Hindi), once. Nothing about you is ever sent anywhere.

When it's ready

three minutes to set up.

  1. Install and pick a PIN

Tell Sakhi your name and when your last period started (or skip it), then choose a 4-digit PIN. Fingerprint unlock is optional.

  2. Add your people

Add up to five emergency contacts, like Maa, a sibling or a close friend. They're the ones who get your SOS and live location.

  3. Try Guardian once

Run a test alert from Guardian settings: you'll see the full countdown and no SMS is sent. Then you'll know exactly what happens for real.
